The idea of truth is adrift for so many, rushing downstream on the current of least resistance. The prevailing thought passing for wisdom these days seems to be "it's right if it makes me feel good.” Otherwise referred to as Woke. In the extreme Wokian field of religion, there is no right nor wrong, only feelings. Therefore, it is thought and taught, right and wrong is subjective to how it makes one feel, and how one makes others feel. Truth, we are told, is relative and right and wrong is a personal matter, so it follows that what is truth for you may be wrong for me, what is wrong for you may be truth for me. So we have his truth, her truth, my truth, your truth, everywhere a truth, truth, old McDonald had a farm ...
However, on the farm, the chickens still come home to roost, and it still takes a rooster and a hen to have offspring. In fact, it takes a male and female for all species to have offspring. In the "brave" new world of Woke, however, I should be able to sell cows that identify as bulls, bulls that identify as cows, and so on. After all, I have seen cows riding cows and bulls getting after bulls. Or, have they not evolved far enough yet like we humans who have supposedly evolved so far that truth is determined by the pleasure receptors in our brains?
Satire aside, seriously, the culture war of past decades has shifted gears as the devil's minions have become militant, waging a panic-attack against truth and reality. We are in jeopardy. In danger of losing Truth and the America I was raised in. In reality, we have already drifted downstream and the point of no return looms ever closer. Some still insist we are "moving forward," but "moving forward" is no good when that "moving forward" is drifting the unaware into deception. Truth is not the subjective servant of agenda. By its very definition, Truth is Master and we its servant, whether willing or unwilling.
The story is told of two men fishing from a rowboat as it drifted on the current of the Niagara River. So engrossed were they in catching fish that they drifted too close to the familiar roaring of the falls, as the river tumbled off its precipice into the rocky foaming river hundreds of feet below. By the time they raised their heads in awareness of their danger, the situation was desperate. All their strength was thrown into the oars and their desperate cries ascended to heaven as the relentless tug of the river pulling toward the falls seemed as if it might well overcome the two men's strength and stamina, plunging them to sure death far below.
They made it to shore.
As they lay on the shore getting their breath and strength back and their wits together, the Christian thought of something. "I thought you don't believe in God,” he said, addressing his atheist companion, "but your cries to God were just as loud as mine out there."
“Aye,” quoth the atheist, "atheism is only good for calm waters."
The well-said words of President Ronald Reagen when he said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction," may well be paraphrased to say that "Truth is never more than one generation away from being obscured.” Truth and freedom are woven into the very tapestry of Christianity. Yes, horrible things have been done in the name of "Christianity,” yet real Christians can still lift their heads and say, "Ye have not so learned Christ,” and continue looking to Jesus. He is our safe place as we look forward to His second coming. Truth is not just an idea. It is the very nature of God, who cannot lie. (Titus 1 :2) Those who drift toward deception, as well as those who drift toward the falls, may well cross the point of no return. Let us follow Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life. (John 14:6) Life Matters!
