Life Matters - November 1, 2023
So what is a man? At the first organized “women’s liberation” conference in 1970 there was no question about biological facts, the new movement didn’t attempt to erase, smear over, nor to ignore, the obvious biological differences natural to men and women. “Emotional orientation” were not yet buzzwords whose noise drowned out the voice of sound reasoning and common sense across America’s fruited plain nor even its major cities. The question may well have elicited the same incredulous response that Matt Walsh got from African men when he asked his now famous (infamous to some) question of “What is a woman?” No, the women’s “liberation” movement, back in the day, never went so far as to strive against biology. In womanly dresses they only sought to “equalize” the roles of men and women by insisting that “chauvinist” men were keeping victimized women subservient for their own selfish ends.
The movement was successful, at least to the casual observer. Women became the “oppressed” while their patriarchal male companions were portrayed as “oppressors.” ‘’# believe all women’’ eventually became the norm in many, if not most, courtrooms across America and by extension the rest of the “civilized” western hemisphere. Especially in divorce courts and in claims of sexual impropriety or abuse has this become the case.
Now I’ll momentarily pull my head back in under it’s protective shell by giving this disclaimer; yes, I do recognize that us men can be, and often are, (as a whole) wrong in opinion and wrong others by our actions. Those wrong opinions, actions, or both, have been and are rightly taken to task by women who are actually abused and the men who stand by them. I have not ever knowingly, nor will I, stand by nor protect a man who is an actual abuser of women, nor of children, so help me God.
That being said, nor can I stand by, silent, when men are routinely denigrated and their role, as given by God in His word, is being “dragged through the mud then hung out to dry in the withering winds of public opinion.” Ephesians chapter five is still God’s word giving us equal value but differing roles. The devil knows, methinks, that by attacking their unique roles he can also undermine the unique but equal value of both men and women. So he attacks. While way too many men cower, afraid to speak up, lest they find themselves at the wrong end (which is the wrong end?) of an emotional guillotine.
From the courtrooms to children’s books, manhood is under near constant ridicule and attack. Kirk Cameron of Brave books, Matt Walsh with his ‘’walrus’’, and many others (God bless them) are stemming the tide, but it is a continuous struggle, and will be, so long as the morally bankrupt “Educators” are allowed to keep the minds of American children hostage, corrupting those minds in the public schools of this nation we are still able to peaceably dwell in. For now. As manhood is under attack, so is our freedom. The stated goals of the National Education Association, and by extension the Dept. of Education, should not be taken lightly by those who love freedom, the Bible, or both. While not defining themselves as being against freedom, to be free is to have clean morals and to have clean morals are a prerequisite to freedom. Immorality always leads to bondage. To spiritual bondage and eventually into physical bondage. It cannot be otherwise as immorality, unless repented of, always blurs and eventually mixes the lines between right and wrong. Between good and evil.
God-honoring men have disciplined minds and disciplined bodies. God’s word speaks to us of having sound minds, as in II Timothy 1:7; “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Of a disciplined body the apostle Paul testifies in I Corinthians 9:26-27; “I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection:” Note how his body is in subjection to his spirit, and ultimately, to the Spirit of God. This is true freedom. To live in liberty through subjection to Christ. Life Matters!
