Ever since being cut loose, in the 1960s, from their traditional moorings of prayer and the Ten Commandments, our learning institutions have been adrift on a sea of change, driven about by every wind of doctrine. But for those of us born and raised in traditional homes with traditional values, the idea that Marxism could infiltrate those institutions, though adrift, would have seemed impossible had we even paused long enough to consider. Marxism could never get past the cold blockade of the Cold War, we may have thought.
But tides change and so do the thoughts and concerns of governing leaders. Perhaps it was the McCarthyism of the late 1940s and early 1950s, suspecting a Communist behind every tree, so to speak, that evoked the first movement of sympathy for the Communist Party here in the land of the free that we are so happy to call home. Whenever it began, we know now that this bloodthirsty victim mentality has gained a foothold here in our land of the free, the USA. Communist ideology can only gain a foothold among a people who feel like victims, most especially victims of Capitalism. And if Capitalism is first on the list, Christianity is a close second. Because Bible Christianity does not, and never will, capitulate to the victimhood, poor me, mentality. It is on the offense, continually at war to expand its spiritual borders. It has no time to stop and wallow in the mire of self-pity. And if it does slip and fall, it repents and rises again.
But the offense of the Cross is what Communism really hates. The Cross of Christ is incompatible with Communist ideology, as it presents a message of hope and salvation to a fallen humanity. A "fallen" that Marxism denies. For Marxism, the ideology of Communism, is an extension of Darwinian evolution. Karl Marx believed Darwin and concluded that as the human species evolves biologically it must also evolve socially. And in this “survival of the fittest” idea, those who disagreed with the tenets of social evolution were not fit to survive. And so, the blood of Capitalists and Christians flowed as the “victimhooders" became the murderers. And so, we may call it a blood-thirsty victim mentality as Marxism's dissenters are in danger for their lives to this day.
Perhaps I am somewhat of a McCarthyist, but I seem to see the ugly head of Marxism bobbing on the tide now awash on the shores of America. It is still presenting itself as the victim, but the blood has already begun to flow. Today's mainstream media is complicit in giving out a pictorial illusion of victimhood whenever a black-skinned person dies by the hand of a white police officer. Never mind that he or she was a criminal or endangering someone else's life. But how many outcries do we hear from these same people when police officers, whether white or black, are killed by murderous lawbreakers, whether white or black? Nay, the killing must fit, it seems, the narrative of victimhood brought about by the "systemic racism” of those born into "privilege." So now we don't just need equality of opportunity, or so the present administration seems to think, we need equality of outcome. Except for the ruling class, of course. Marxism has never freed itself from that contradiction of itself, its government. We should heed a warning from its totalitarianism. Government dependence for natural sustenance, Government control of the media narrative, and being cut loose from the traditional moorings of prayer and Bible commandments are three hallmarks of, and pillars upholding Communism, in which government is god. Jehovah God assures us that He will not share His glory with another. So may we faithfully adhere to our dependence upon God, to prayer, and the Truth of God’s Word, the Bible.
